Coach...This One is on You

DATE:

What could have been...was not. What should have been...was prevented. How? Why? Questions many Indianapolis Colts fans are left pondering after today's 29-15 Loss to an under-achieving New York Jets team.

Thirty minutes had been recorded in the books, and thirty minutes were left for the Colts to reach what many felt should have been a 15-0 mark after the completion of week 16. It was 9-3 at the half, Indy ahead, however, that was soon to change. The opening kickoff of the second half to the Jets was returned to the house to put them ahead of Indy 10-9. No problem right? We have the soon-to-be 4-time NFL MVP....Wrong!

Indianapolis Colts' Head Coach Jim Caldwell decided to stand by his other goal for the season, "to not be perfect," leaving many, including myself dumbfounded over the decision.  Now as a fan, we respect the decisions and outcomes of certain games and situations, however, this one is going to leave a bitter taste for a few days. What was wrong with 15-0? One week away from potentially 16-0 also? Why hit the brakes now?

Coach Caldwell made a decision unlike any other made the entire season. Pull Manning, Clark, Wayne, Addai... Isn't that an oxymoron? Who would do that? I don't blame him for wearing his helmet most of the time on the sideline, I would want to hide my anger as well. I think all NFL players should have the 'Ball-Cap' look on the sideline in December, right? Ya Right! If I had to suit up, and just got done spending 9 days to prepare for the Jets, I would be a little upset also, seeing that there would have been no difference had Peyton and the other starters stayed in bed this morning, and decided to not show up to the stadium. If you start them, let them finish. Dont pull out 2-weeks before the finish. Don't show weakness now. What the hell Indianapolis? Caldwell, that was pretty pre-mature...

The organization heard boos for the first time in a long time at home. I saw why. A Painter was their fill-in quarterback. Boy did that go well. What a mess. Manning should have called an audible on Caldwell today, maybe NFL Fans everywhere could have still been witnessing perfection...
